Mangesh Diwane a Nashikite who recently published a book called “Balcony Queen” It is story of a couple who could not give their love a perfect end. Protagonist in the book is Sameer an engineer by profession who wanted to find his perfect match, once he found his feet in life. But love struck, he pursued a girl who turned her nose at him. Though he maintained his limits despite mounting frustration, it all went wrong at one point, the reason for this book.
Sameer and Chaitalee live in the same colony, their balconies facing each other. Unfortunately their families never connected. Chaitalee is four years younger than Sameer and pursuing CA. Sameer completed his engineering and is working in automobile manufacturing company.
Here comes into picture an unreachable chasm between the two. Sameer is simple; Chaitalee ultra-modern. What happens when a simple boy with big ambitions meets an ultra-modern girl? His dream to convey to Chaitalee his love for her is the story of this novel. It’s really difficult to approach a girl who is not connected with you by any means.
This story will take you back in the years of 2008. When orkut was the only social media, the girl about whom author is talking in his novel is the most coveted damsel of his colony.
Recently Mangesh has been relocated in nashik after worked for auto mobile industry in Mumbai for half decade. - What inspired you to write your first book?
Ans: I am reading novels since long time, when I was studying engineering; reading was the only thing, which was possible for me to do other than some sports. I read so many novels and so many stories. At a certain point of time whatever I did or whatever happened with me, I felt that I should write a novel. “Balcony Queen “is my own story. I used to tell my every close friend what I am doing everyday when I was in love and when I was perusing my balcony queen.My friends suggested me to write a novel, since my story is very different from others. And I wrote it.
- How long have you been writing?
Ans: well it’s not really possible to define exact time, but I used to write something on my blog spot, sometimes it was movie review, sometimes it is about current happening moment sometimes it is about free flow of thoughts. Almost since last 6 or 7 years I am writing.
- How did you come up with the title?
Ans: There are so many titles I decided before launching this book like “The boy in the balcony”,”& it all started with hate” , But somehow all those are common with some other works or already used, so I concluded about “balcony queen ” is appropriate one. From innovation point of view this title is also good because, we have some terminologies like “queen of fish ” , queen of fruits , queen of blah blah blah …But nobody ever heard of queen of balcony..
- Do you have a specific writing style?
Nothing specific as such. I write anywhere, sometimes in the notes of my mobile, sometimes in any word file, sometimes in the draft of my mailbox, and then at the end I combine all these small articles.
- Up to which extent the book is realistic?
Ans : “Balcony Queen” is thoroughly based on true story.
- Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

- Are you a full-time or part-time writer? How does that affect your writing?
Ans: Currently part-time writer, but I love writing, and I would like to continue it further.
8. What are your current projects?
Ans: Current project is sequel of balcony queen, if you go to the last page of balcony queen, you can see the line “to be continued”. Some part of sequel is drafted but in discrete format like I said earlier, in my notes, in mail drafts and in my diary. I will club it soon. Hardly 10% manuscript is drafted. My target is to see the response of balcony queen.
