OneSunday afternoon, we accidentally ended up at Malaka Spice for a lunch, Malaka Spice is a popular southeast Asian restaurant from Pune, It is situated around 45 minutes journey from Nashik city and nested up into the premise of Vallonne Vineyards. The restaurant serves food from the regions like delicacies from Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, and China.

The ambiance of Malaka Spice is very chill out with soft music in the background, the restaurant overlooks the spectacular view of backwaters and a fort. The restaurant was half empty when we visit but we missed the balcony seating but don’t miss to reserve your table outside in the balcony to get the amazing view with your lunch.
Instead of exploring the options from the menu we straight away asked our host Mr. Ajay for the recommendations and he didn’t disappoint us! So we got Top Hats (Chicken), Thai Chilly Rice (Chicken), Malaka’s Signature Red Curry (Chicken) with Coriander rice and we ended up with choco lava cake.
Top hats were little bite-sized canopies filled with shredded chicken, herbs, and sprouts with condiments like honey chili sauce, peanut chutney, and red chili sauce. Each bite was an explosion of flavors and pairing with different condiments made these bites even more juicer.

The second dish was Thai Red Chilly rice, A pan-fried rice preparation with diced chicken red chilly, Thai herbs with kaffir lime. If you love eating spicy food then this is the perfect dish for you. Though it had a good amount of red chilies it never overpowered the dish and there were distinct flavors of all the ingredients in every bite.

We got Thai Red Curry for mains, a chicken curry made with coconut milk, red chilies, lemongrass and basil and it was a pure gem! It had a good balance of all the ingredients, lemongrass stem in the curry added the mind-blowing aroma to the curry, Coriander rice was also had a subtle aroma and both the dishes got paired pretty well. This was by far the best dish from our lunch.

We ended our meal with Malaka’s signature dessert, Choco Lava cake which was quite disappointing. It was just a frozen chocolate flavored cake with no melting chocolate in it and they served it cold along with the vanilla ice cream. This was sad because after a splendid meal our expectations were pretty much high.

We had two beverages A basic sweet lime soda and a merlot by Vellone. Overall it was a perfect meal and it made our trip worthwhile. Though we were a small group with a small appetite we got a chance to taste only 3-4 dishes but we’ll make sure to hit this place soon for exploring other dishes.
Service was top-notch and extremely fast. All the guys were familiar with the menu and if you’re stuck they’ll help if you to get the right meal with your preferences. This entire food with wine cost us around 2800 INR. which was decent price considering the quality of food and service.
So please try the place and let us know your feedback in the comments. Chao!
